Centered in LightBurn but Visually Off? Check the Shapes

A logo can be correctly centered by its outer bounds and still appear visually unbalanced. First verify what geometry is selected and what center is being compared. Then, if the customer prefers an optical adjustment, approve that artwork change deliberately rather than treating it as a machine-positioning correction.

Examine the space that defines the selection

Picture a sign with a bold word and a thin decorative tail extending to the right. The tail contributes to the selection's total width even though it carries little visual weight. Centering that complete width can place the heavy letters left of where a viewer expects them.

Now inspect for an unintended object outside the visible logo. A stray line can enlarge the bounds without belonging to the design. Remove it only after confirming that it is not an intended cutting, registration or reference element. Otherwise you may change the job while trying to improve its appearance.

Temporarily show a simple rectangle around the selection for inspection, keeping that reference out of laser output. Compare the left and right extents with the intended sign boundary. This reveals which element is controlling the numerical center before any subjective adjustment.

Compare two proofs at the intended viewing size

Make one proof at the verified mathematical center and another with the proposed visual shift. Label both with their actual placement values. Use a full-size print or other non-laser proof when practical, and view it at the expected distance.

Do not keep nudging until the numbers are forgotten. An accepted visual shift becomes part of the artwork specification. Save that version distinctly and retain the original centered proof for comparison.

Keep layout choices separate from machine setup

The TYVOK X1S 2026 is presented with an 800 × 800 mm starting configuration and an 800 × 2000 mm extension path. That space is relevant to sign layout after the actual setup is confirmed. It does not determine the visually preferred center or guarantee placement accuracy.

Artwork approval questions

Should every asymmetric logo be shifted away from its calculated center?

No. Some designs intentionally use asymmetric space, and some jobs require an exact center relative to holes or edges. Compare proofs and follow the approved design requirement.

Can changing the machine origin fix a logo that looks visually heavy on one side?

It changes the job's positioning reference rather than resolving the artwork decision. Establish the geometry and approved visual placement first; investigate a true machine-coordinate fault separately.
