Two Sign Text Lines Need Different Sizes: Separate the Blocks

Keep the main name and subtitle in separate text objects. Then enlarge the name alone and reposition the two objects against the same sign centerline. A single two-line object is inconvenient when the lines need independent sizes and later customer changes.

That is the exact problem raised in a LightBurn discussion about resizing one line without affecting another: the maker wanted a larger first line while retaining a small second line. Separate blocks address that editing need; the discussion does not establish a particular TYVOK result.

Build the hierarchy before placing it on the board

For a supported LightBurn setup, its official text documentation describes creating editable text and controlling text height and alignment. Use one object for each independently sized message. Finish the spelling first, then set the large line's size without selecting the subtitle.

Consider an original workshop sign reading “MORGAN WOODWORKS” above “CUSTOM FURNITURE.” Decide which line someone must read from the doorway. Increase that line until it occupies the intended width, then position the subtitle with breathing room below. Do not force both lines to equal width: that can make the supporting message compete with the name.

Measure the complete arrangement in physical units. An attractive screen composition can still leave too little space at the board edge. Compare the letter shapes visually as well as the object bounds; capitals with different silhouettes may look uneven despite mathematical alignment.

X1S 2026 sign layout checks

The TYVOK X1S 2026 product page describes an 800 × 800 mm starting area with an 800 × 2000 mm configuration or expansion path. Choose the layout against the installed configuration and the supported sheet, rather than assuming the larger area is present.

Sign decision What to inspect before engraving
Main-line revision Only the name changes size
Subtitle position Gap remains readable after the name grows
Board placement Both lines retain the intended edge margins
Finished appearance Small lettering survives a sample on matching stock
Work area Entire arrangement fits the actual X1S setup

Keep a saved editable copy before preparing the production file. A future change from a short surname to a long one should not require reconstructing the whole sign. After every text change, inspect the finished dimensions and the machine preview before processing supplier-approved material in the prescribed safe setup.

Why does the subtitle move when I resize the heading?

First check whether both are selected together or still belong to the same text object. Independent objects let you adjust one message at a time. If the design also includes lettering attached to a curve, inspect that separate relationship using the text-and-border scaling check; a curved path introduces another dependency.

Should a small personalized cover use the same text proportions as a wall sign?

Usually it needs its own physical-size proof. A cover is viewed nearby and has openings that restrict placement. Establish the tissue-cover refill dimensions before positioning the name, so decorative lettering never competes with the pull opening or disappears around an edge.
