Judge three things separately: the live camera image, the background overlay in LightBurn, and the measured placement result. A sharp feed does not guarantee a sharp overlay, and a sharper overlay does not establish accurate positioning. Changing image resolution is not a substitute for checking calibration and alignment.

Put the three observations on separate lines

Start with a stationary reference object and consistent lighting. Inspect its edges in the live feed, then in the captured overlay at a comparable viewing scale. Record whether blur appears in both views or only after the image becomes the workspace background.

Next, evaluate location using the supported alignment-verification procedure. Do not judge placement solely by how pleasant the picture looks. A clear reference edge can still be mapped to the wrong coordinate; a coarser image may be visually adequate for one purpose yet insufficient for another.

Use a deliberate comparison

Imagine a printed rectangle that looks smooth in the live view but stepped in the overlay. Record both views before changing one documented image setting. If the overlay improves, repeat the positioning check instead of assuming the repair is complete.

If placement still misses the reference, preserve the new observation and investigate the geometry through the current supported calibration process. Avoid dragging all artwork by eye to hide an unexplained error. That workaround may fail at another location or material height.

Before changing the workstation configuration, save the current camera data with its alignment context. A backup preserves an identifiable state; it does not certify that state as correct.

Distinguish a reference image from engraving artwork

A camera overlay is a placement aid. If you also import a photograph as an artwork object for comparison, inspect its layer separately before output. Follow the reference-photo framing check so an extra picture does not unexpectedly enlarge the job boundary or become an engraving operation. Improving that picture still does not validate the camera's physical mapping.

The TYVOK X1S Pro is presented as an 800 × 2000 mm large-format diode workflow. Confirm the purchased configuration and accessory support. Neither the nominal area nor software compatibility establishes camera coverage or a numerical placement tolerance.

Camera troubleshooting questions

Should I buy a higher-resolution camera as soon as the overlay looks blocky?

First establish where detail is being lost and what the supported setup requires. More source pixels do not automatically repair lens distortion, a moved mount or incorrect alignment.

Can I approve placement from one successful reference near the center?

That provides limited evidence at one location. Follow the documented verification procedure across the relevant working area and conditions before using the arrangement for the intended job.
