Save Camera Alignment Before a LightBurn Workstation Change

Before changing a camera-assisted LightBurn workstation, export the camera data while the current lens calibration and alignment are known to be valid. Label the backup with the physical setup it represents. Restoring a file does not prove that a moved camera, changed mount or altered working plane still matches that data.

This advice applies to an X1S Pro only when TYVOK confirms support for the specific third-party camera arrangement. It does not describe a camera included with the machine.

A September LightBurn camera-backup discussion asked whether an .lbcm export includes alignment. The reply explains that valid alignment data is included when it exists at the time of saving. An export made before alignment therefore cannot be assumed to contain a completed setup.

Identify what the backup actually represents

Treat the file as one part of a workstation record. Keep its date, camera identity, software version and installation description together. Photograph or describe the camera mount and relevant reference plane so another operator can identify the configuration without guessing.

Suppose a shop replaces a computer while the camera and work surface remain untouched. A correctly identified export may help restore the software configuration, but a positioning check is still required. Now suppose the camera bracket is loosened during cable replacement. The old file can remain readable while its physical mapping is no longer valid.

These two cases should not receive the same approval merely because import succeeds. The first calls for confirmation that the restored arrangement still works; the second requires following the current calibration and alignment procedure for the changed setup.

Follow LightBurn's current camera instructions for exporting and restoring your installed version. Avoid relying on remembered menu names if the interface differs. Confirm that the file is saved where it can be retrieved before retiring the old workstation.

Verify restoration in separate stages

First confirm that the intended camera is selected and the expected image is available. Then examine the restored geometry and perform the prescribed positioning verification. Keep valuable customer stock out of the recovery experiment.

A sharp image alone is insufficient: camera-feed quality and overlay placement are separate checks. Likewise, a software update can require checking job behavior beyond the camera; compare actual travel order after an update before repeating an established process.

The TYVOK X1S Pro product page describes an 800 × 2000 mm diode platform and LightBurn workflow messaging. Those statements do not confirm compatibility with every camera or establish camera-assisted positioning accuracy. Obtain configuration-specific support before depending on that accessory.

Backup questions

Does a recent .lbcm timestamp prove alignment was saved?

No. The date shows when the file was saved, not whether a valid alignment existed then. Record the completed setup and verify the restored result.

Can I reuse the backup after moving the camera to a higher bracket?

Do not treat the previous alignment as valid after changing the physical geometry. Follow the supported setup procedure again and create a new identified backup after verification.
