Why corners fail before straight strips

A straight 1.5 mm strip may survive while a 2 mm bridge at a sharp corner splits across veneer grain. Include real turns, not only ruler-straight samples.

Test removal, sanding, and finish

  2. 2. Include grain directions and realistic road or coastline turns in the ladder.
  3. 3. Use the same release, cleaning, sanding, and finish sequence planned for the map.
  4. 4. Set the design minimum from the full handling result, not the narrowest successful cut.

Narrow-bridge questions

Is kerf the only reason bridges break?

No. Grain, veneers, glue voids, geometry, handling, sanding, and finish all contribute.

Can one minimum width cover every plywood?

No. Requalify when lot, thickness, species, finish, or process changes.

Should I simply add more bridges?

More bridges improve retention but change the artwork. Balance structural survival with the approved visual design.
