Watch Band Holes Changed? Rebuild the Engraving Keep-Out

When a watch-band supplier changes the holes, remake the engraving exclusion area from the current band. Reusing the old outline can place a name across a longer opening or too close to a narrow ligament. Matching the product name and color is not enough to establish matching geometry.

The current xTool rainbow watch-band listing warns that hole shapes can vary between batches. That is a concrete reason to inspect each incoming design revision. It does not establish TYVOK P2 compatibility with every silicone strap or with that supplier's settings.

Compare the usable strip, not just the overall length

Lay the band flat without stretching it. Record the fastener end, the watch connector and every opening alongside a ruler. A longer slot can remove usable space even if its center has not moved. Keep the original band photograph with the batch label so a later reorder can be compared against the same reference.

Trace a paper outline and shade the openings plus a conservative surrounding margin. Position the proposed name only within the remaining uninterrupted strip. If the buyer uses a particular adjustment hole, include that fastening position in the mockup: a beautiful flat layout may be partly hidden when worn.

Prove material suitability separately

Silicone in a retail title is not a universal laser-processing approval. Obtain confirmation for the complete band and its colored filling, using the intended wavelength. If the supplier cannot confirm suitability, stop with the paper proof. Remove the watch and detachable hardware; do not engrave a worn or tensioned strap.

The standard TYVOK P2 uses a blue-diode galvo workflow. Its compact field and selected power option still require a verified, flat sample within the documented focus conditions. Neither a successful mark nor a tidy border demonstrates that the remaining strap retains its original strength. Avoid processing near functional holes or adding cuts to enlarge them.

The hidden-construction question is similar to a multilayer phone case: the visible surface alone does not describe everything that might be heated. After material confirmation, also check what the supplier QR code actually supplies; a code meant for another machine is not a P2 preset.

Can I stretch the band to make the name fit?

No. A stretched proof misrepresents the resting letter shape and hole spacing. Reduce the text, use a shorter name or choose a larger uninterrupted area.

Do I need a new sample if only the hole shape changed?

Yes for placement and functional clearance. Ask whether the construction also changed; a geometry notice should prompt inspection, not an assumption that every other attribute is identical.
