Place Wreath Holes Evenly on Three Concentric Rings

Create each ring of wreath holes as its own circular array, using the same numerical center for all three. Choose the hole count separately for each radius: equal angles do not produce equal physical gaps on rings of different sizes. Check the completed arrangement against actual stems before cutting a full wooden base.

A September 16 maker question describes this exact problem: placing evenly spaced holes on three offset circles for a poke wreath. The useful starting point is a shared center and a measurable pattern, rather than positioning every hole by eye.

Establish the center before duplicating holes

Draw three guide circles and give them the same center coordinates. Keep those construction circles on a non-output layer if they are only positioning aids. The numerically exact circle workflow helps establish a reliable diameter before placing the first hole.

Place one hole on the first guide circle. In LightBurn's Circular Array controls, enter the shared center and the required final number of holes. The Copies field represents the final item count, including the original. Repeat independently for the other two rings, checking the count after each operation.

For illustration, twelve holes around a complete ring have a 30-degree angular interval. Keeping twelve holes on a larger ring increases their center-to-center distance. More holes may be appropriate outside, but foliage size, stem diameter and the remaining wood between holes determine whether that arrangement is useful.

Do not use a decorative screenshot as a strength specification. Narrow bridges between holes can leave a base fragile, especially near its outer edge or a hanging point. Cut a representative small section in known laser-compatible stock, clean it, and insert several real stems. Judge the loaded arrangement before repeating it around the whole circumference.

Confirm your installed configuration and leave room for material support and holding. A large work area does not establish the correct hole diameter or make an unsupported sheet flat.

Circular geometry also appears in small ring-and-wheel drawing tools, but the acceptance test changes: wreath holes need usable spacing, while meshing teeth must roll without binding.

Should all three rings use the same number of holes?

Only if that produces the intended arrangement. Matching counts align radial positions but leave larger physical gaps on outer rings. Compare the actual stem spacing and rotate a ring if staggered placement is preferable.

Can I choose the hole size from the stem's label?

Use the label as a starting point, then measure and test actual stems. Coatings, taper, surface cleanup and fit preferences can change the result. A small sample prevents committing the entire wreath to an unsuitable hole.
