Buy blanks whose supplier confirms their composition and suitability for laser processing. Adhesives and backing layers matter as much as the visible surface. Draw a circular or square keep-out margin and place the design inside it. Compare a few line weights on a spare from the actual batch, then select the version that remains clear against the texture. Record the blank supplier with the production file.
