Short answer: Use this as a starter test path for TYVOK P2 Ultra 20W 1064 nm, not as a universal preset. Run a small grid on the exact material before customer work.
TYVOK P2 Ultra 20W 1064 nm starter settings table
| Material | Operation | Starter speed | Power | Passes | Test note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel tag | Surface mark | 300-800 mm/s | Medium to high | 1-2 | Clean after marking before judging contrast. |
| Tool ID mark | Surface mark | 300-700 mm/s | High | 1-2 | Use a fixture so repeated tools stay aligned. |
| Metal card | Contrast mark | 600-1200 mm/s | Low to medium | 1 | Card coating can mark faster than raw steel. |
This is not standard P2 tuning
P2 Ultra uses a 1064 nm metal marking workflow. Do not copy blue-laser P2 2W/10W settings into metal marking jobs.
Fast marking still needs a test grid
P2 Ultra can mark metal much faster than standard compact blue-laser engraving, but stainless steel finish, coating, and cleaning affect the final look.
Production check
Before quoting a customer batch, mark one real part, clean it, photograph it, and verify contrast under the same lighting the customer will use.
Settings depend on material supplier, coating, thickness, focus, air flow, and software units. Avoid PVC, vinyl, and unknown plastics. For paid work, save the final tested speed, power, passes, photo, and material source.
